We're Nasmo, a creative collective.

Our community supports creative projects in the fields of social entrepreneurship, technology, and the arts. Over three years, we’ve grown into one of the city’s largest creative collectives.

 

On November 19th, we’ll debut Nasmo X, an event series focused around specific themes and challenges.


Our first event will focus on female entrepreneurs who are designing products and businesses catering to women.

Timing is everything.

What are the challenges and opportunities for women as they begin their entrepreneurial journeys? We’ll hear about struggle, success, and hard-won insights from founders who’ve recently launched companies in film, fashion, hardware, and recruiting.

Shruti Ganguly


Shruti is a producer of award-winning film and television and an MFA/MBA graduate of New York University. Shruti has produced three feature films with James Franco, and her work has premiered at Sundance, Telluride and SXSW.


She's led video departments for Vogue and Nylon, and recently struck out on her own with her narrative and documentary film company, Fictionless.

Benita Singh


Benita is CEO  of Le Souk, a digital marketplace featuring the latest collections from leading fabric mills and leather tanneries. Singh started her career as a senior at Yale University, when she cofounded Mercado Global, a fair trade social enterprise connecting women artisans in Guatemala to wholesale markets in the U.S.


Recently, Singh was named one of the top 10 socially & environmentally conscious entrepreneurs by Levi's.

Annie Dean Zaitzeff


CEO of Werk, a platform that connects women to flexible, career-building jobs. After graduating from Fordham Law School, Annie worked as an associate at a law firm where she was involved in billions of dollars in transactions.


At 27, she got pregnant. No matter how hard she worked, her role as a mother was seen as a lack of commitment to her job. Her frustrations inspired her to start Werk with her business partner, Anna Auerbach.

Nora is CEO of Caeden, a company that fuses fashion, design, and engineering to create products that help modern, driven individuals approach their goals with greater calm and focus.


Nora is a mechanical engineer with an M.S from Stamford. Together with her cofounder David Watkins, Nora developed strategy for Jawbone, Skullcandy, and Incase, before launching Caeden in 2014.

Allison Vicenzi

Allison Vicenzi of Material, a new brand of custom-fitted women’s blazers.

 

Vicenzi is starting her made-to-order garment business online, fitting her customers at work and home. Even more importantly, she’s creating a closed-loop system to extend the life of each item, from useful resources to help with garment care and repair to a trade-in program to donate or recycle used blazers.

 

Vanessa Tanicien

Strategist Vanessa Tanicien of Bitchcraft, a women’s creative group that meets once a month to craft.

 

They believe that unleashing one’s creative energy isn’t just a pastime, it’s a necessity. Bitchcraft provides a fun, warm, and encouraging environment to get crafty.

Sara Radin

Writer Sara Radin of It's Not Personal, a collection of stories and conversations about the female dating experience.


Beginning with Sara’s own poetic response to a break up, the project has evolved into a diverse range of voices from all over the world send in personal stories to help create a productive and empowering conversation about dating and relationships.
